Night Light...

Hey everyone and thanks so much for checking in.  I've got a lot of fun Halloween projects to show for you on this very last day of summer.  :)  Can you even believe that Fall is really here???  My son keeps hounding me asking if I've ordered his, "Sheriff" costume yet, and my daughter is still trying to figure out what she want to dress up as this year.  I've had a few days off and I've been going at these, "Night Light" papers from My Mind's Eye for the last couple of nights, and thought you might like a few projects.  I made some cards and some cute little treat bags using rub-ons from Melissa Frances and Stampin Up!, chipboard elements from Melissa Frances, vintage mica-glitter, little mini-wooden fences, and my Sissix.  Hope you enjoy.  :) 

And for one more tiny little note here...how about a"Quote-for-the-Day" from my 7 year old, "Hey mom...when we get a yellow Lab, can we get him as a puppy so he lasts longer?" (said while waiting at the bus-stop this morning).  :)

Sleigh rides...

It's getting closer to winter!  And yes!!!  I'm very excited and so are my kids.  This year we will be spending Christmas in Chautauqua, NY, in the hopes that we will have a white Christmas!!  Living in Florida there's no hope for that whatsoever, so this year...we're keeping our fingers crossed.  One of Connor's favorite things to do in the snow besides skiing, is sledding.  Could there be anything more fun for a 7 year old in the wintertime???  So when I saw these really sweet, little red sleds at the craft store today, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them.  I've had these red-lidded jars for forever it seems, and they were begging to display something seasonal, so I knew just what to do.  I made a snowglobe, but in mine...there's no water inside, just sleds, a bottle brush tree and lots of glass glitter which really sparkles quite nicely in real life.  I also added a little rusty bell and a felt snowflake to finish it off.   Enjoy!

Valentine's tags and Peppermint rolls...

Don't you just love holidays?  I mean really, there's something about each and every holiday that just makes me smile.  Maybe it's in the thinking that people are friendlier, the weather's usually a little cooler and life is slowed, even for just a little, while you take it all in.  I love decorating for holidays, I love creating for holidays.  "Hello" cards just don't seem to do it for me anymore, I need something more to keep me going.  I have been on a fabric kick lately and yes, that includes felt as you will see below.  So after spending hours this week purging my craft room and making it "mine" again, I had the urge to sit and create.  LOVE those "me" times. 

I made some Valentine's tags, which I haven't done since I don't know when and I even decided to go as far as to dye my own tags with some walnut ink.  I found a small container of walnut crystals and decided to set up a lab.  Remember when dyeing was huge??  I still love to do it, even though it's messy, it stains the counters, and your fingers are colored for days, but it's just fun to play like that every now and then.  I took good old white shipping tags and dipped them into the walnut ink, crinkled them a little so the dye sets in darker in some areas, then simply let them dry.  Then it was off to decorate, with fabric of course and some of my favorite Melissa Frances embellishments and buttons from Papertrey Ink...Enjoy!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And I wasn't completely satisfied when I finished these last night...as I was looking through my new Holidays book from "Gooseberry Patch", I found these absolutely adorable peppermint roll ornaments, and instantly grabbed my stash of felt.  How lucky I was to find that I had red, pink & white too.  I started to make them...then it got addicting, I think I made 10 of these last night.  I changed them up just a bit, adding a red button to the top instead of a red bead, (only cause I didn't have any)...but can I just tell you fun and easy these were to make???  LOVE them!!!  Enjoy!!

 

 

 

Hope you enjoyed...and am I right in thinking that Halloween is right around the corner?  Guess I'll be creating a little spooky stuff in the near future.  Can't wait, that's one of my favorite holidays...love it!  :)

Water Can's & Firehouses...

Last week I made the mistake of leaving my backpack at work.  Yeah, I realized this just as I got home, so I had to go back and get it.  Someone wanted to come along with me?  Wanna take a guess who?....You'll only need one try.  Connor of course just HAD to come and play on the Firetrucks again.  He of course didn't realize that it's an hour and a half drive, (one-way), just to get down there, but he could'nt get out of the car fast enough once we did.  Another perfect opportunity for pictures.  He opened all the compartments, touched every tool, learned how to turn the truck on and flip on the emergency lights, even rang the air-horn, (ouch), much to his delight.  He really wanted to play with foam again, but I had to say no this time, instead I told him to grab the "Water Can", and he looked at me with 7 year old confusion and said, "What is a Water Can?"  Having to make it sound exciting, because foaming the driveway and squirting water from a hoseline are much more fun than shooting water from a small aluminum can, I played it up like the bushes were on fire, and he needed to put the fire out really, really quickly.  He got into it, but don't think it was as much fun as creating a mountain of foam on the apron.  Anyway...By the time we left, he still thought Firefighting was the coolest job ever and that's what he wants to be when he grows up.  I won't hold my breath though...when he plays with his cars, he wants to be a Racecar driver, and when he plays Guitar Hero, he wants to be in a band....who knows, he'll make me proud no matter what he chooses.  :)  Enjoy some photos...
