Candles and Christmas...

Yes...it's my Birthday today.  I don't like to celebrate my Birthday anymore, is that weird?  I don't know why, maybe it's because I have to realize that I'm older than I care to be and Birthday's just depress me now, so to keep my mind occupied, I decided to create a card, a Christmas card, (imagine that), using my new glimmer mists from Tattered Angels.  Now keep in mind, I have not done this before, (a complete novice if you will), but I have been intimidated by these shimmery sprays for some time so I decided today is the best day to try them out.  I used some old papers from Making Memories, (Boho Chic), remember that line?  I forgot how much I LOVE that line and they seemed to match perfectly with my shimmery background.  I also used trim and rub-ons from Melissa Francis, buttons and cardstock from Papertrey Ink and I painted a chipboard snowflake white before sprinkling glitter on top.   I hope you enjoy.  :)

Mothers...

I'm lucky enough to have two!  You may or may not know this about me, but I have two mothers.  I have one who gave birth to me and loved me while I wasn't there, and another one who raised, taught and loved me.  I have them both in my life and I'm about the luckiest girl in the world.  So mother's day is especially meaningful to me.  If my birth mother hadn't put me up for adoption, I wouldn't have known my Mom.  I love them both for very different reasons.  I love my Mom because....she was always there for us, she is supportive, headstrong, creative, a Christian, a quilter, a listener, an adoring Nana, and there arent enough words to thank her for everything she has done for me throughout my life.  I love my birth mother because she loved me, (if only for a few moments), but found out later she's always loved me, she's kind, thoughtful, and endearing.  So you see, Mother's Day holds a special place in my heart for two women who I am so blessed to know.  Here's a Mother's Day card for you...

Vintage Candy Canes...

I promise I'll leap back into the wonderful world of paper crafting, but I had to finish just one last clay project for you.  It's a quickie, these little guys take no time at all to make and I just adore them.  These are my Vintage Candy Canes, made from Sculpey, and then antiqued and glittered.  I made about 15 of them and I hung them on my little baby pine, that's up all year round.  (I decorate it with seasonal stuff), so I promise these Canes will be tucked away till Christmas time.  But I hope you like them, and I know that it's almost May....but I could make Christmas ornaments all year round.  :)  Enjoy!

Snow pops...

I'll admit it...don't you just love it when you finish a project and you sit back and think, "I LOVE THIS"?  Well, I am totally lovin' my new Christmas Snowman Pops and what fun they are to make.  Just a few supplies is all you need for these little guys; Sculpey (oven baked clay), wooden dowels, acrylic paint, seed beads, coarse glitter, antiquing medium, ribbon, and wire and your on your way.  Soooooo much fun to make!  I hope you enjoy them as much as I had fun making them.

An early start...

Well I know we're in early months of Spring, and not too soon after that comes the oppressive heat of summertime, but I'm starting my Fall projects now.  You can never begin too early for Halloween, Christmas and Thanksgiving projects as least as far as I'm concerned, so I'll share with you my newest fascination and it comes in the form of clay.  For some reason, sometimes I get a little bored with paper crafting and have to stretch beyond my comfort zone, and this week, my medium of choice is clay.  I had sooooo much fun creating this fun little ornament, and I have so many others in mind, I almost can't wait to play with it more.  I am calling this my "Spider-Pop", and I really love how it turned out.  Oh the wonderful things you can create with Sculpey.  I LOVE it!  I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.
