Hey everyone! For another Sizzix project this month, I decided to create a "sewing" project! Most everything I make always ends up at my sewing machine so I thought I'd create a sewing box, to hold some misc sewing stuff. I used the Fluffy Bird die from Brenda Pinnick for Sizzix which I love and is "sew" much fun to create with. The bird is stuffed and acts like a pin cushion and he sits on a nest next to a picket fence and I added some "button" mushrooms, and then I decopaged the box with Simplicity patters then inked to distress, and around the bottom I added a tape measure. I hope you enjoy! ;)
and here are some close ups...
To make this bird for this project I used:
Fluffy Bird Die from Sizzix
I also used: fabric, glittered chipboard wings, buttons, wooden spools, wooden picket fence, paper mache nesting box, tape measure ribbon, poly fiber fill, sand, floss, decopage medium, distressing ink and a bird's nest.
To make the bird, diecut 2 sides from the Fluffy Bird die, and with right sides together pin then sew, leaving a small opening at the bottom. Turn the bird right side out and stuff the bird with sand and fiberfill, then stitch the opening at the bottom closed. Sew pink buttons on for the eyes, hot glue chipboard wings onto the sides then hot glue the bird to the nest. For the box, apply decopage glue to the box and adhere layers of sewing patterns, then decopage the top, when dry...distress the box with Vintage Photo distressing ink. Hot glue the nest to the top of the box, and then glue a picket fence to the back of the nest. For the mushrooms, I simply glued a rounded button to the top of wooden spool. To finish the box, adhere a tape measure ribbon to the bottom. Below are a few pics to show you how I made this. I hope you enjoyed and I hope it inspires you to create one of your own.
Thankyou so much for stopping by!
Have a great week!
