To help get you inspired and ready for the new dies to hit the store shelves, our Sizzix design team has lined up a wide array of projects! Several times a week through the month we will be sharing a link to one of our designer’s blogs featuring a fabulous project featuring the new dies. After we share the final project, I will post a round up with a link to them all so you can easily bookmark the post and check it out again in the future.
I am up today to show you what I made with Tim's Jumbo Tattered Florals, I hope you enjoy!
These large over-sized tattered florals I think will be so pretty on a Christmas tree. I don't have my tree up yet, I think I'm the last one without it yet, because I'm waiting for our trip to New York, but as soon as I get our tree, these will be added. They have a clothespin in the back to simply attach to your Christmas tree branches and I can only imagine how pretty these will be against all those white lights.
These were very simple to make. I simply used the Jumbo Tattered Florals die to die cut many different layers from burlap, quilting batting, coffee dyed batting, cardstock, (which I then glittered), old music paper, and coffee stained muslin.
Then just keep stacking, and stacking alternating muslins with batting and burlap until you get the look you like, then I threaded a needle with DMC ecru floss and stitched from the bottom up through all the layers and when it came out the top, I added a big rusty bell, then sent the needle and floss back through all the layers and knotted it on the bottom.
I then simply added a wooden clothespin to the bottom using hot glue, and these are ready to clip onto a Christmas tree, a wreath, a gift package, or even as a center piece to your Christmas dinner table.
These were so much fun to make, I think I'll make about 10 more to really enhance my Christmas tree this year.
I hope these have inspired you to create your own. Be sure to tell your local retailer to pre-order them for you now! You can learn more about these amazing new dies on Tim’s blog here, or here at #Sizzix:http://www.sizzix.com/shop/th-tattered-floral-2013.
Have a wonderful Christmas everyone!
