Hey everyone, thanks again for stopping by today. Again for you, I have a tutorial on a really fun Valentines Day gift or treat bag. This was made for Sizzix using the new "Bag w/ Flap" die by Where Women Cook. I just love and adore this die. Sometimes when I look at a die, I don't see how sweet it will be when it's finished. I knew though when I took this one out, it was going to be adorable, it's the perfect size to fill with treats! Did I say perfect?? I love this! Anyway, I also used the new 3-D ribbon die by Eileen Hull, that was just released by Sizzix as well and this little gift bag is now among my favorites. Below, I'll show you how I made it, and at the bottom of the post, find out how easy it will be to WIN this die!!. I hope you enjoy! ;)
Okay, let's get started. For your supplies you will need:
- Bag w/ Flap
- 3-D ribbon
- Tiny tabs and tags
- Framelits circles
- Framelits scallop circles
- pattern papers
- scrap piece of transparency paper
- post-it notes or the magnetic platform
- walnut ink
- glittered chipboard flower
- rusty bell
- bakers twine
- metal vintage button
- hot glue and red lined tacky tape
- alphabet stamps and black ink
Okay the first step is to die cut the bag w/ flap out of pattern paper. This die is great because you need only to pass the die through once and you'll have all your pieces including the sides. I then wanted to add a clear circle in the front of the die to my recipient could see all the goodies inside. So here's how I did it. I took a Framelit circle, and laid it cutting side down over the exact spot I wanted my window to be, then ran it through my Big Shot.
I then wanted a sweet and simple scalloped border around the circle, so I did that by taking 2 Scalloped Framelit circles, one just slightly smaller than the other. I nested them together and then taking the sticky piece of a post-it note, (or your magnetic platform), I secured them down onto the pattern paper I wanted to use. I then flipped the paper over, and ran it through my Big Shot.
And your left with a pretty scalloped border. Now for the window, on the inside of the bag, adhere a small piece of transparency paper over the opening. Then on the outside of the bag, adhere the scalloped circle around the outside edge of the cut out...and voila! Your window is complete. Next simply line the bag edge flaps with red line tacky tape and also the bottom edge flap of the side piece....
and adhere the sides to the bag, making sure you press down as you go to ensure adhesion.
To finish my bag, I made a bow out of the 3-D ribbon die and adhered it with a metal vintage button at the bottom, and at the top, I simply threaded bakers twine through the premade holes, and tied on a glittered flower, and a walnut inked tag made from the "Tiny tabs & tags" die, which I stamped with a sentiment. Add a rusty bell, and you are finished! I really love this bag! I cannot get enough of little gift bags, especially this time of year, each one is so much sweeter than the last.
