Hey everyone, I have a fun patriotic project posted for you on the Sizzix blog, just in time for your 4th of July celebrations. I really enjoyed creating these Americana Star Shakers, and wouldn't your little ones' just have the best time, waving and shaking these fun stars at your local county fair this 4th? These are easy fun and festive, plus...they make a wonderful centerpiece on your picnic table too. I used Tim Holtz's "3-D Star Bright" die to create these, and I certainly hope you enjoy!
These shakers are filled with a few beans, just before the sticks are adhered and some red gingham and silver metallic ribbon was also added.
Below are a few close ups...
To make these stars extra sturdy, I used heavyweight chipboard, then mod-podged pattern papers to the fronts and backs. The edges were further secured with hot glue and a piping of silver tinsel.
Small mirrored stars were added to the fronts.
...and the backs, I just left plain. You can see that by distressing with a sandblock, then distressing with ink really adds a fun weather, vintage look.
The 3-D stars are the perfect "puffiness" for some beans. Then just finish by adding a sturdy stick and shake away!!
I hope you enjoyed my project!
