A Joyful Gingerbread Bucket
I really enjoyed participating in this Handmade Holidays blog hop! Oh what fun it is to create gifts using my own two hands. For my project, I created a gingerbread bucket which you can easily include with it, a gift card, or even a favorite gingerbread recipe for your recipient. I have a few new neighbors, that I think would enjoy this bucket left at the foot of their front door.
This is very simple to make, you just need a few ingredients, along with some fabric, a wooden bucket, seasonal sprigs, gingerbread and some burlap and ribbon, etc...
On the side of the bucket I attached a stained tag along with red-check ribbon and a giant rusty bell.
.....and on the other side, I included a handmade gingerbread. The gingerbread is not edible, though I'm sure you could tuck in a few edible ones if you so desired.
and finally I included a stuffed, fabric heart that you can easily fill with potpourri.
This gingerbread bucket was so much fun to make, let me show you how I created this.
We're going to start by making the fabric heart. This was made using the Framelits Hearts set from Sizzix. I used one fabric heart for my project, (but I did create two, I also want another one on hand). But for this project, it only requires one.
To get the best cut from your fabric, first line the tray with the adapter pad, then lay down the magnetic platform on top. Next lay a cutting pad down, then your fabric, the heart Framelit, (cutting side down), then finally another cutting pad on top. Roll this sandwich through your Big Shot Pro.
You will need two pieces of fabric for each heart you create. I used a red and green one together.
Next, pin your fabric hearts, (keeping the right sides together).
Machine stitch using a 1/8"-1/4" seam allowance along with an opening for flipping.
Once sewn, flip hearts right side out.
And stuff the heart with poly fiberfill, as full as you'd like.
Once full, sew a simple sititch to close the heart up.
For the bucket, gather your suppies. Seasonal picks, pinecones, floral foam, hot glue, ribbon, ric rac, walnut stained tag, (stamped with a sentiment), your fabric heart, some burlap, red check ribbon, berry sprigs and of course an old wooden bucket with handle, and a gingerbread man. (I make a ton of gingerbread men every year to give out), they are so fun to create.
Okay, to assemble your bucket, insert a piece of floral foam into the bottom, and tuck in some burlap around the edges in the back. You can hot glue all this together. Next begin inserting your seasonal sprigs.
and all the rest of your goodies, just keep filling up the bucket, there's no rhyme or reason, just fill to your liking. Once the bucket is filled, hot glue red ric-rac around the top of the bucket uisng hot glue, and adhere the tag and ribbon with bell on the side of the bucket. Slip in a little gift card, or your favorite gingerbread recipe and voila! A gift anyone would love to receive. I know I would love to find this at my front door.
I hope you enjoyed my project today.
Happy gift giving and Merry Christmas!!
