The kit comes with dies for stockings, stars and mittens along with dies to make garlands so you really have everything you need to create the sweetest of Holiday goodness. I chose to create a stocking, mitten and star ornament for my project and then chose to use the garland dies in a rather un-traditional way, by creating some peppermint candies and a fun looped Christmas tree.
The kit also comes with fun diagrams and dies to help you create fun patterns with the sequin and beads that accompany the kit.
I stitched all my ornaments using a blanket stitch, which is my favorite way of stitching when creating with felt, but it's completely up to you and in how you want to finish your projects.
I just adore the beads and sequin. I never thought I'd ever stitch a fun ornament like this using them, but I gotta tell you, they just add the absolute perfect touch to your projects. It's so fun to see your creations shine as you stitch on the little beads and sequin.
I decided to add a small peppermint at the bottom of my star ornament by just using the garland dies. It's very easy to do, I simply cut two pieces of contrasting felt using the largest garland die, laid on top of the other and rolled them up. I attached a couple of beads using DMC floss and anchored it to the bottom of the star.
For another cute project using the various sizes of the garland die, I created some fun peppermint candy embellishments to use on packaging, attaching to a card front, or even creating a little garland of these, the ideas are endless. Making the same peppermint as above, I went a little further by adding a loop at the bottom and a couple of loops at the top. So simple and fun!
And yet one more project using all three sizes of the garland die, I created a fun, whimsical looped tree. Very easy and quick, simply die cut strips from all three garland dies and set aside. Next using a wooden spool, adhere a wooden dowel to the center of the spoon securing with hot glue. Next, using the largest of the strips, adhere the ends together and hot glue the ends to the dowel, working around and up. As you work your way to the middle of the dowel, switch to the medium strips, and stop on. At the top, use the smallest of the strips and adhere to the top, securing with one last one for the tip of the tree. To embellish, I added a few sequin with seed beads to some of the "branches".
How sweet they look hanging on a tree.
I just love these so much, they are my favorite Christmas ornaments ever, and I so cannot wait to display these this year.
I hope you enjoyed my projects and I hope I've inspired you to create your own, using this fabulous kit by Erin.
